Patronal feast held at the Romanian church in Johannesburg
On Saturday 29th November, the Romanian community celebrates the patronal feast day of their church, the patronal day of the Holy Apostle Andrey “First Called” in a new style. The church is located in Midrand, near the Russian Orthodox church. Building of the church was started not too long ago. The church has not yet started regular service – but parishioners are already trying to honor the memory of its Patron Saint, and gathered on this day for common prayer near the walls of the church. At the invitation of the Romanian church’s Priest, Vasiliy Taty – Rector of the Russian Orthodox church of St. Sergius of Radonezh, Rev. Danil Lugovoy attended the celebrations. Father Vasiliy read a thanksgiving prayer, while the other priests of the Serbian and Bulgarian parishes, clergy of the Diocese of Johannesburg and the many parishioners also participated in the service. After the service, a festive luncheon was held.
