Russian Orthodox Parish of St. Sergius of Radonezh welcomes the Russian Federation’s Minister of Foreign Affairs
On the 12th February 2013, the Russian Orthodox Parish of St. Sergius of Radonezh in South Africa was visited by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, S.V. Lavrov, who was visiting South Africa on a work related assignment.
Sergei Viktorovich was welcomed by the congregation and current Priest Danil Lugovoy. Father Danil took the Minister around the premises, showing him the Church and the Parish centre. While walking around he gave an account of the Parish’s divinity and explained the history of how the congregation was formed, as well as how the Church was ultimately built. Father Danil also highlighted what may be encountered by the congregation of this Parish while living in this country of the African continent. Sergei Viktorovich then wrote a commemorative memoir in the book for honorary visitors of the Parish. In memory of visiting the only Russian Parish in Sub-Equatorial Africa and on behalf of the entire congregation present, Father Danil presented Sergei Viktorovich with a beautifully decorated ostrich egg which depicted the Holy Trinity and a booklet with an entire history of the Parish.
