Students of the Russian school at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of South Africa visit the church of St. Sergius of Radonezh
On Sunday March the 16th, teachers and students of the Russian school at the Russian Embassy in South Africa visited the church of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Johannesburg, accompanied by their parents.
They were greeted by the Rector of the parish, Father Danil, who took everyone through the church and insightfully explained the purpose of the church itself and explained the meaning behind certain items within the church. Father Danil also touched on the church architecture, as well as the main shrines located inside the church. Children and adults alike listened to the life story of the St. Sergius of Radonezh church with a keen interest, which was told from the day it was created until today – this year the church will become 700 years old.
The visit of the church was organized with Andrey Alekseevich Strahonov, the Director of the Russian school at the Russian Embassy. Further visits such as the one held on this day will be considered and planned to the church of St. Sergius of Radonezh in the near future on a more regular basis.
