The Russian church in South Africa commemorates the Feast of the Holy Trinity

On the 24th of May 2010, the parish of St Sergius in Johannesburg, RSA, commemorated the Day of the Holy Trinity as part of the great Feast of Pentecost. After celebrating Divine Liturgy, the parish rector, Father Daniel Lugovoy performed the Vespers service and led the parishioners in the reading of the kneeling prayers.

In preparation for the Feast day, parishioners had lovingly decorated the church with palm branches and leaves, in accordance with an ancient custom. This blessed custom is in remembrance of the holy oak tree of Mamre in Israel, where the Triune God once condescended to appear to Abraham. It also symbolizes the regenerating power of the Holy Spirit that came down on the apostles.
