Above the analogue with the icon of the Nativity of Christ, a creche was built to symbolise the cave of Bethlehem, where the Christ Child was born.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Christmas night, from 6 to 7 January, Matins and Divine Liturgy were celebrated at the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Johannesburg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Parishioners from Pretoria, Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth gathered to celebrate the birth of Christ the Saviour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the end of the service Archpriest Daniel Lugovoy addressed the audience with a sermon and congratulated them on the Feast of the Nativity of Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All were then invited to a festive meal in the parish refectory.<\/p>\n\n\n\nngg_shortcode_0_placeholder","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Christmas Eve, the parishioners decorated the church with flowers and pine branches.
