On 7 September 2025, in the week of the 13th Pentecost, Archpriest Daniel Lugovoy, Primate of the Cathedral of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Johannesburg, commemorated Matins and the Divine Liturgy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then a rite of prayer for the preservation of God's creation was celebrated. In our time, due to environmental problems associated with human activity, the world around us is suffering: many species of animals and plants are on the verge of extinction. In 2015, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, a special prayer rite was established in the Russian Orthodox Church. All those gathered offered prayers for the preservation of nature in its pristine beauty and diversity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the end of the prayer service, prayers were recited for the beginning of the new school year. Afterwards, students, pupils and their parents were sprinkled with holy water.
