On 26 October 2025, on the 20th Sunday after Pentecost, on the Feast of the Holy Fathers of the Seventh Ecumenical Council and the Feast of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God, a Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the parish of St. Thomas the Apostle in Bloemfontein. The service was led by Archpriest Daniel Lugovoi, rector of the Cathedral of St Sergius of Radonezh in Johannesburg, and dean of parishes of the Diocese of South Africa in South Africa, and co-celebrated by the rector of the parish, Priest John Rossouw. The service was conducted in Afrikaans, English and Church Slavonic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the end of the liturgy, a memorial service was celebrated for the deceased.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The rector of the parish warmly welcomed Fr Daniel and thanked him for his attention to the life of the community in Bloemfontein. In his response, Archpriest Daniel Lugovoy congratulated Father John and the parishioners on the feast of St Thomas the Apostle and the Day of the Holy Fathers of the Seventh Ecumenical Council, which established the Orthodox veneration of holy icons, and donated icons of the Saviour, the Mother of God and the Holy Great Martyr George the Victorious, from the parish of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Johannesburg to the parish of St. Thomas the Apostle, wishing all strength in their faith and Christian love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
