On 6 June 2026, the birthday of the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, an engaging quest based on Pushkin's fairy tales was held in the parish centre of the Cathedral of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Johannesburg for young compatriots living in South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event was held on the initiative of Olga Kolesnikova, a member of the Coordination Council of Russian Compatriot Organisations in South Africa, and
The event was held in a warm and joyful atmosphere. The children recalled their favourite Pushkin fairy tales, completed creative tasks, and demonstrated their ingenuity, attention, and knowledge of the Russian language. A space reminiscent of Pushkin's magical Lukomorye was prepared for the participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event's active organiser was Matushka Elena Lugova, who put a great deal of effort into preparing the colourful decorations. Thanks to her involvement, the festive space was filled with vivid images from Pushkin's fairy tales, becoming truly lively and memorable for the children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event was also attended by lecturers who arrived in South Africa under the Russian language support program: Dolinger Anna Nikolaevna (Tyumen State University) and Smoly Eugenia Aleksandrovna (RUDN University named after Patrice Lumumba).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These meetings help children living far from Russia to maintain their connection with the Russian language, literature, and cultural traditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
