On July 18, 2026, the feast day of the uncovering of the relics of St. Sergius, Abbot of Radonezh, wonderworker of all Russia, a festive divine service was held at the St. Sergius of Radonezh Cathedral in Johannesburg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The dean of the parishes of the South African Diocese in South Africa, the rector of the cathedral, Archpriest Daniil Lugovoy, performed Matins and the Divine Liturgy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This day holds special significance for our parish, which bears the name of the great ascetic of Radonezh. On the feast of the finding of the honourable relics, the Church commemorates the event of 1422, when during the construction of the stone Trinity Cathedral of the monastery founded by Saint Sergius, his incorruptible relics were discovered. Since then, they have rested at the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius, being one of the greatest holy sites of the Russian Orthodox Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
