On 6 September 2026, the 14th Sunday after Pentecost, Archpriest Daniil Lugovoy, Dean of the parishes of the South African Diocese in South Africa and Rector of the Cathedral of St Sergius of Radonezh in Johannesburg, celebrated matins and the Divine Liturgy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the end of the service, a moleben was held for students in connection with the start of the new academic term and the resumption of classes at the parish Sunday school after the winter break. The children, their parents and teachers prayed during the moleben. Prayers were offered for God's help, wisdom and good progress in learning to be granted to teachers and pupils. At the end of the moleben, Archpriest Daniil sprinkled the gathered congregation with holy water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the same day, classes began at the Sunday parish school. The first topic of the new academic term was the appearance of the Lord to the prophet Moses in the burning bush.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the creative session, the children, together with Mother Elena, made an image of the Burning Bush\u2014a bush that burns without being consumed\u2014from seaweed and coloured paper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then in the Orthodox faith lesson, Father Daniil told the children about the call of Moses, the manifestation of God in the burning bush and how the Lord instructed Moses to lead the people of Israel out of Egyptian slavery. To conclude the lesson, the children watched a short animated film together dedicated to the story of the prophet Moses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
