On Sunday, June 16, the parish centre of the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh hosted the traditional annual soup day, timed to coincide with the beginning of the African winter, which in the southern hemisphere comes just in June.
According to tradition, parishioners, compatriots and South Africans gathered to treat each other to their favourite works of culinary art and to socialise. This time there were 18 different flavoursome, rich and warming soups.
Both adults and children were delighted with this gastronomic feast.
Huge thanks to the author of the idea, inspirer and organiser our headman Sergey Vybornov, to all the cooks and grateful eaters, as well as to Georgiy Kochukov, the chairman of KCORS South Africa, for support and help in holding this event.
