On 3 November 2023, the international conference "Consolidation of Women's Associations and Their Role in Modern Social Processes" was held in Moscow. The II Assembly of the World Federation of Russian-Speaking Women was held as part of the conference.
South Africa at the conference was Matushka Elena, head of the Sunday school at the Church of St Sergius in Johannesburg.
Elena Afanasyeva, Senator of the Russian Federation, addressed the audience with a welcoming speech.
One of the main speakers was Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the State Duma on International Affairs, Member of the State Council. He spoke about the significant role of women in the world, especially against the background of modern challenges. He also touched upon the problem of the reduction of Russian-speaking people around the world from 350 million to 270 million in recent decades.
Before the audience spoke: Senator of the Russian Federation Karelova G. N., Chairman of the Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum, Senator of the Russian Federation Galina R. F., Chairman of the State Duma on Labour, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs Nilov Ya. E., Chairman of the "Union of Compatriots" Ketova G. S. and many others.
After the speeches, the presentation of the book for children "Famous Women of Russia" was held, which included such representatives of our country as Elina Bystritskaya, Valentina Matvienko, Maya Plisetskaya, Natalia Bekhtereva and others. Elena Vladimirovna Afanasyeva introduced the young talented artists who worked on the illustrations for this book. The conference ended with a small concert with the participation of students of the Institute of World Civilisations.
