On 19 and 20 September, divine services were held at the parish of Archangel Michael in Lusaka (Zambia). They were led by Archpriest Daniel Lugovoi, rector of the Cathedral of St Sergius of Radonezh in Johannesburg and interim rector of the parish of Michael the Archangel of God in Lusaka.
On Friday, 19 September, the day of commemoration of the miracle of Archangel Michael in Khonekh, a prayer service was held with the Akathist to the heavenly patron of the parish. The next day, Saturday, 20 September, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Archpriest Daniel Lugovoy, accompanied by Priest John Musondo.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Zambia A.A. Yarakhmedov, Embassy staff and compatriots with their families prayed at the service.
The Liturgy was followed by a tea party and conversation with the parishioners. Father Daniel spoke about the conference of African deacons held in Moscow and its significance for the church life of the continent. Together with the parishioners they discussed plans for the improvement of the church and the development of parish life in Lusaka.
From the Cathedral of St Sergius of Radonezh in Johannesburg, Father Daniel gave the parishioners Gospels, prayer books and spiritual literature, which will become the basis of the future parish library.
