On Sunday, 10 November, the week of the 20th Pentecost, the rector of the parishes of the Diocese of South Africa in South Africa, rector of the Cathedral of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Johannesburg, Archpriest Daniel Lugovoi celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Church of St. John the Ledger in Cape Town, accompanied by the rector of the church, Priest Nicholas Esterhuizen.
The service was conducted in English, Afrikaans and Church Slavonic.
After the service, parishioners of the Cathedral of St Sergius of Radonezh in Johannesburg presented the Cape Town parish with an ark with the relics of St John the Venerable, an icon of the Holy Great Martyr Panteleimon and the Pochaev Icon of the Mother of God, a hoop and a candlestick.
Then everyone socialised together over tea, there was a Sunday school class and a catechism talk for adults.
