On 7 December 2023, as part of his working visit to South Africa, Sergei Stepashin, Chairman of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society, visited the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh.
The delegation headed by Sergey Stepashin, Chairman of the Russian Bar Association and Chairman of IPPO, was met by Archpriest Daniil Lugovoi.
The rector of the temple told Sergei Vadimovich about the life of the parish, revered shrines of the temple, pressing issues of the Orthodox community in the south of the African continent.
Sergey Stepashin acquainted the rector with the history and current activities of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society, the oldest international public organisation in Russia. Sergey Vadimovich emphasised the active work of the Society's foreign branches. To date, there are over 60 representative offices abroad.
The meeting also focused on the establishment of an IPPO branch in South Africa for the purpose of further work on the implementation of cultural, historical and educational projects. Sergey Stepashin presented the rector of the parish with a memorable gift - a sign of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society.
