On 12 January 2024, Bishop Constantine of Zaraisk, acting Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, committing Pastoral visit to South Africa, in Pretoria he met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of South Africa, I.I. Rogachev.
The parties discussed issues concerning the activities of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa in this state, carried out in constructive co-operation with the Embassy of the Russian Federation.
The conversation covered a wide range of topics concerning the interests of compatriots living in Southern Africa and their pastoral care. Then, on behalf of the Russian Ambassador and his wife, a reception was given in honour of Bishop Konstantin of Zaraisk.
The meeting was also attended by Hieromonk Stephan (Igumnov), Secretary of the Department for Inter-Christian Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, with the blessing of Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Archpriest Daniel Lugovoi, rector of the Church of St Sergius of Radonezh in Johannesburg, and Vladislav Dendyuk, assistant to Bishop Constantine.
