On 11 January 2024, Bishop Constantine of Zaraisk, Acting Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, began his visit to the Republic of South Africa. With the blessing of Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations, Hieromonk Stephen (Igumnov), Secretary of the Department for Inter-Christian Relations, is taking part in the trip.
At Johannesburg airport, Vladyka Constantine was met by Archpriest Daniel Lugovoi, rector of the Church of St Sergius of Radonezh.
Bishop Constantine's visit to South Africa is of a pastoral nature. The programme of the trip includes visits to parishes of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa in this country, divine services, meetings with clergy and believers, and other events.
On the first day of his visit Bishop Constantine visited the Church of St Sergius of Radonezh, examined the complex of temple premises and talked to the rector.
