On 18 April 2025, on Great Pentecost, the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, Metropolitan Constantine of Zaraisk, celebrated Vespers with the carrying of the Shroud of the Saviour and Matins with the burial of our Lord Jesus Christ in the Cathedral of St. Sergius of Radonezh.
His Eminence was served by Archpriest Daniel Lugovoi, rector of the cathedral, and Deacon Stephen Hayes, clergyman of the parish. After the Great Glorification with the singing of the funeral "Holy God" a procession with the Shroud was made.
On 19 April, Great Saturday, Metropolitan Constantine, accompanied by Archpriest Daniel, celebrated Vespers with the reading of 15 parimia and the Divine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great in St. Sergius Cathedral.
After the intercessory prayer, the archpastor consecrated bread and wine. At the end of the service, Metropolitan Konstantin addressed the congregation with a sermon and blessed the traditional Easter food.
Before the Liturgy began, according to the decree of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, Metropolitan Constantine presented Archpriest Daniil Lugov with a hierarchical award - a pectoral cross with decorations - for his diligent service to the Church of God for the Feast of the Bright Resurrection of Christ.
Deacon Stephen Hayes was honoured by the Bishop with the right to wear a double ornament on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of his service as a deacon.
