On Christmas Eve the parishioners decorated the church with flowers and pine branches. Above the analogue with the icon of the Nativity of Christ, a creche was built to symbolise the cave of Bethlehem, where the Christ Child was born.
On Christmas night, from 6 to 7 January, Matins and Divine Liturgy were celebrated at the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Johannesburg.
Parishioners from Pretoria, Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth gathered to celebrate the birth of Christ the Saviour.
At the end of the service Archpriest Daniel Lugovoy addressed the audience with a sermon and congratulated them on the Feast of the Nativity of Christ.
All were then invited to a festive meal in the parish refectory.
