A commemorative event called «Fiery Pictures» was held on the territory of the parish of the Archangel Michael in Lusaka, dedicated to the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow - the anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War. The Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriot Organizations in Zambia initiated the event.
Before the start of the event, a memorial service was held in the ordinary order. All those gathered prayerfully remembered the soldiers and civilians who died during the Great Patriotic War: those fallen on the battlefield, those who died from wounds, hunger and cold, those who perished in captivity and in the rear.
Participants then arranged a memorial composition of candles with the inscription: «22.06.1941. Zambia remembers!» When the candles were lit, their flame became a symbol of our shared memory, gratitude, and prayer for those who gave their lives for Victory and the future of subsequent generations.
Over twenty people took part in the event. The action went smoothly and in a warm, unifying atmosphere. Such meetings help to preserve historical memory, pass it on to children and youth, unite compatriots, and contribute to the development of parish life.
Eternal memory to all who perished during the Great Patriotic War!
